Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's prestige wine, made only in the years the house judges good enough. It is entirely Chardonnay, from the first pressing of fruit grown in five grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It then rests for ten years in the fourth-century chalk cellars of Saint-Nicaise in Reims before release.
2015 was a hot, dry summer and a difficult year for Chardonnay. Taittinger could pick from parcels that had ripened fully and kept the balance, so the 2015 has a little more breadth than usual with the precision Comtes is known for. Antonio Galloni of Vinous scored it 97 points in May 2026, describing a delicate, airy wine with lemon peel, white flowers, chalk and mint. Dosage is 9 grams per litre and it was disgorged in July 2025.
