Services
Services
Four things, and one person who does all four. When you call about broking, storage, a cellar review or a valuation, you are speaking to the person who will do the work. Below is what each one is, what it costs, and what happens after you get in touch.
Broking
Selling. Send me a list. I come back within one working day with an indicative price on every line, taken from Liv-ex where the wine trades there and from the wider trade where it does not. If you want to proceed I find the buyer, and you are paid as soon as the buyer's funds have cleared.
Buying. Tell me what you are looking for and I will go to the market for it, rather than steering you towards something already sitting in my warehouse.
Storage
Your wine in bond at London City Bond, Burton Gateway. Insured at replacement value, held in your name and legally ring fenced, with condition recorded on arrival so its history is on file from the day it lands.
Nothing is payable in duty or VAT while the wine stays in bond. Both fall due only when you take it out. If you sell it in bond, neither is ever paid by you.
Cellar management
An annual read of everything you own, whether or not you bought it from me. You get a document called Cellar Wrapped: every wine valued against the market, a drinking window on each line, and a plain recommendation to hold, drink or sell with the reasoning beside it. It covers wine held anywhere, not only wine in my warehouse.
Most cellars contain two or three lines quietly past their best, and one or two worth a great deal more than the owner thinks. The point of the exercise is to find both.
Valuations
A written valuation for insurance or probate, on headed paper, itemised line by line at the date you need it. Quoted fixed before any work begins, so there is no open ended bill.
Questions
What do you charge? Everything is above, and anything marked on request is quoted before any work begins. There is no charge for talking to me, and no charge for a valuation that does not lead to a sale.
Do I have to buy from you to store with you? No.
What happens to my wine if Vinco stops trading? It is held in your name at London City Bond and legally ring fenced, so it is not ours and no creditor of ours can reach it.
Can I sell wine I did not buy from you? Yes, provided its storage history can be accounted for.
Can I visit the warehouse? Ask me, and I will tell you what the warehouse allows.
All four start the same way.
