Grower

Grower Champagne, or récoltant-manipulant to use the designation on the label, represents a fundamentally different proposition to the great houses. Where the grandes marques blend across villages and vintages to achieve consistency, the grower works with what their own land gives them. The result is Champagne that tastes of somewhere specific.

The movement has grown considerably over the past two decades, driven by a generation of producers who trained in Burgundy or worked harvests across Europe before returning to their family plots with a different set of questions. Producers such as Ulysse Collin in the Côte des Bar, Agrapart in Avize, and Egly-Ouriet in Ambonnay have demonstrated that Champagne can carry the same terroir conversation as the finest still wines.

These are wines for those who want to know where their Champagne comes from. Often produced in small quantities, they reward attention and, in many cases, extended cellaring. Our selection is curated from producers whose viticulture and winemaking we consider to be of the highest standard.
