What the critics say

91 WAWine Advocate, Luis Gutierrez, 19-06-2025

The red 2022 Pepe Yllera was produced with 87% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot from different vineyards in different villages of Ribera del Duero, fermented in stainless steel and matured 15% in clay amphorae and the rest (85%) in French and American oak barrels for nine to 10 months. It's the most approachable of the reds, ripe and creamy, with some notes from the barrel and with fine tannins. It comes from a very warm and dry year and has 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.55. A total of 221,945 bottles and 3,000 magnums were filled in June 2024.

The 2022 Pepe Yllera is 90% Tempranillo, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot from Ribera del Duero. The warm vintage defines the wine’s dark-fruited profile. Blackberry drives the palate, which is concentrated and structured with active tannins. Flavorful and rich, though for now the structure outweighs the fruit.
