The 2021 Villa Gresti di San Leonardo is peppery and intensely floral, with a bouquet of geraniums, dried roses and lavender giving way to cedar shavings and mentholated wild berries. Streamlined and youthfully poised, this wine dances on the razor's edge, with crisp red and blue fruits that ride a silky textural wave framed by nuances of sour citrus that curl the tongue. It tapers off with excellent length and a chewy sensation, as edgy tannins resonate, offset by a bump of residual acidity.

A blend of Merlot and Carmenère, the Tenuta San Leonardo 2021 Villa Gresti offers pretty balance with dark fruit flavors, blackcurrant, spice and mountain herb. This lean- to medium-bodied red rolls over the palate with medium intensity, soft tannins and good freshness. This is a versatile red to pair with a platter of grilled meats.
