The 2022 Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru, back after frost wiped out the 2021, is matured in 600-liter demi-muids for 12 months and then in stainless steel. This has a simpler nose than the Vaillons, pure and focused with orange zest and nectarine notes, a touch of Anjou pear. The palate is very well-balanced with a killer line of acidity, fresh and poised, with an elegant and persistent finish. Another excellent 2022 from Billaud.

One of the richer cuvées in the range is the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux, a medium to full-bodied, broad and open-knit wine redolent of peach, yellow apple, citrus zest and flowers. Of course, it may tighten up with some more time in bottle.
