From some 60-year-old vines, Samuel Billaud’s 2024 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses is one of the more ethereal, oceanic wines in the range, opening with notes of white flowers, lemon oil and Granny Smith apple mingling with marine nuances and warm stones. On the palate, it’s medium- to full-bodied, bright and incisive, with ample chalky structuring extract, culminating in a long, sapid finish.

The 2024 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru comes from 60-year-old vines and has a more expressive and engaging bouquet than the Bougros: oyster shell, frothing sea spray, lemon zest scents and, later, a touch of yellow flowers. The palate is very well balanced with lilting peach skin and mango notes on the entry. It has very fine weight and well-judged acidity, and lingers nicely on the finish. Great potential.
