What the critics say

93 VMVinous, Neal Martin, 01-01-2022

The 2017 Volnay Carelle Sous la Chapelle 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of red currant, strawberry and sous-bois , opening nicely with aeration though still one of the more bashful in this lineup. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lithe and harmonious, delivering disarming purity toward the persistent finish. There is verve and class to this Volnay, and it should drink well for 20 years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
