What the critics say

Good bright, dark red. A distinct wildness to the aromas of raspberry, red cherry, licorice, purple rose and white pepper. Saline and tightly wound, showing hints of ripe berry fruit, but quite backward and uncompromising today, with little in the way of easy sweetness. Finishes with a firm tannic spine. All potential today.

The 2012 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques has a very fine bouquet with great delineation and focus: vibrant red cherries, cranberry and pomegranate aromas infused with minerals. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, impressive delineation and plenty of tension and detail on the tart finish. This is a very fine Lavaux Saint Jacques from Fréderic Magnien.
