What the critics say

95 VMVinous, Joaquin Hidalgo, 24-10-2025

The 2021 Syrah Las Pizarras from Aconcagua Costa opens with tapenade, truffle, oregano and balsamic herbs, accented by a touch of charcuterie. The palate is intriguing with fine tannins and a dark edge on the finish. Aromas of mushrooms add further depth. A highly distinctive Syrah.

Drink 2025 to 2045

95 WAWine Advocate, Luis Gutierrez, 06-04-2023

There is a big difference in style in the 2021 Las Pizarras Syrah compared with previous years, and the cooler conditions of the year also accentuated those differences that make it more northern Rhône-ish than ever, with intense aromas of violets, subtle smokiness and minerality. It's juicy with super fine tannins and a superb texture. They changed the élevage to have 85% of the volume in foudre and a mere 15% of the wine matured in barrels. The wine has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 with an amazing 7.1 grams of acidity (in tartaric acid per liter). This is the finest Pizarras Syrah ever. 2021 only produced 2,600 bottles. It was bottled in June 2022.
