What the critics say

86 WAWine Advocate, Robert Parker, 23-12-1994

Lynch-Bages has produced an impressively colored 1992. The wine has not begun to display much complexity in its cassis, damp earth, and spicy-scented nose. There is fine fatness and ripeness, medium body, and light tannin in the finish. This is a very good, spicy, cedary Lynch-Bages for drinking over the next 6-8 years.

Drink 1993 to 2001

85 VMVinous, Ian d'Agata, 01-01-2012

(4.75 g/l total acidity; 13% alcohol): Dark ruby-red with a hint of garnet at the rim. Evolved, musky aromas of blackberry, coffee, camphor and underbrush. Juicy and on the lean side, with uncomplicated flavors of small dark berries, licorice and mushroom. The short finish features a hint of black pepper and firm, chunky tannins that avoid coming off as hard. This seems bigger than many other 1992s (a very difficult, rain-plagued year in Bordeaux), but it's not much fun.
