What the critics say
92 VMVinous, Neal Martin, 07-02-2024
Having read about my encounter with the 1951 Latour in Vinous Table, Frédéric Engerer cracked open a second bottle at the property just a few months later. Interestingly, this comes across a little tighter than the previous bottle, cedar and freshly-rolled tobacco emerging with time, perhaps more tertiary in style. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins, a bit coarser than expected, though with a similar finish that offers marvelous depth considering the growing season. A victorious Latour when the odds were against it. Tasted at the château.
