What the critics say

The 1905 Lafite-Rothschild is the only Bordeaux that I have tasted from this long-forgotten vintage that never enjoyed a good reputation since it rained for two weeks during harvest. It has a light Montecristo nose, delicate but not frail and actually gaining a little intensity with aeration. The palate seems dominated by the Cabernet Sauvignon. The 1905 is pretty, dainty and balanced, showing no oxidation and quite saline towards the finish. It is actually far better than I could have predicted though of course, its perfect provenance plays a key role. Tasted at the Lafite-Rothschild 150th anniversary dinner at the estate.
