What the critics say
94 VMVinous, Neal Martin, 01-05-2018
The 1953 La Conseillante was one of the best venerable vintages that I have encountered of this Pomerol stalwart. The bouquet is very expressive: dusky dark fruit laced with cedar, mint and like the 1959, a touch of mocha. The palate is unusually quite robust for a 1953 that tend to be more elegant and refined, a solid La Conseillante albeit beautifully defined unlike vintages in the 1960s and 1970s. Bottles of sound provenance should still offer pleasure. This is a graceful, sophisticated La Conseillante even after so much time has passed. Tasted blind and taken from the book Pomerol.
