What the critics say

93 WAWine Advocate, William Kelley, 11-08-2022

An attractive, exotic wine, the 1990 Haut-Marbuzet bursts with aromas of sweet berries, espresso roast, cigar smoke, Indian spices, black truffles and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a velvety attack that segues into a layered core of sweet fruit framed by melting tannins, it concludes with a long, sapid finish. It's a brilliant effort for this Saint-Estèphe overachiever.

88+ VMVinous, Stephen Tanzer, 01-11-1993

Medium color, with a hint of development. Exotic aromas of chocolate, tar, very ripe cherries and prunes, and, sweet new oak, with woodsy and medicinal nuances. Sweet and very ripe, with better acidity than the '89. In fact, this seems to he closing up already, and is not showing the opulence it displayed from the barrel.
