What the critics say

87 WAWine Advocate, Robert Parker, 21-04-2000

Toasty oak and soil/earth-like overtones compete for the taster's attention in this tannic, medium-bodied effort. With herb-tinged black cherry fruit and a spicy personality, this 1997 can be drunk over the next 6-7 years.

Drink 2000 to 2007

85-86 VMVinous, Stephen Tanzer, 01-05-1999

Moderately saturated medium red. Tobacco, caramel and roasted nuts on the nose. Offers decent intensity but comes across as rather dry; perhaps already beginning to lose fruit. A bit inky on the finish, which features some spiky acidity. Still, this is a softer style of Certan de May.
