What the critics say

The 1947 Brane-Cantenac bursts from the glass with perfumed scents of morello cherries, raspberry, leather and black truffle—though unlike the 1945, this loses vigour after ten minutes' aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with pastille-like purity, actually more akin to a 1949 than a 1947 insofar as it bears no traits of VA or overripeness. Almost Burgundian on the finish, this is a classy post-war Brane-Cantenac that is probably best poured directly from bottle. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château in September 2025.
