What the critics say

There's only one 350-liter barrel of the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, but the resulting wine is lovely, revealing aromas of pear, orange oil, nutmeg and clove, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate. Unfortunately, I imagine securing even a bottle or two will be a considerable challenge.

The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru is fragrant on the nose with honeysuckle, orange pith and light yellow flower aromas, a hint of chai emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a more overtly tropical opening: mango and pineapple, perhaps just missing the same acidic bite as some of Moreau's other cuvées. This is for those seeking a richer style of 2021. Drink sooner.
